                                                    Volunteer Opportunities

It takes special resources like those listed below to make a project like ours work.
Volunteers who care for people, who have a heart for serving and are willing and able to provide visitation
and other services for Nursing Home residents.
Volunteers to provide money donations for purchase of needed project items and services.
Volunteers to provide physical donations like wheelchairs, clothing, celebration supplies and other material items.

Performance by volunteers at the The Douglas T. Jacobson State Veterans Home are exceptional. Individual
volunteers contribute in various areas of residents’ lives. Many offer personal attention during activities such as
bingo games, card games, concerts and parties as well as other large group events.
We are also graced with a number of organizations that assist our residents in many different ways. The  American
Legion, Cooties, AMVETS, Disabled Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Marine Corps Leagues, and several
ELKS Clubs contribute to the residents’ quality of life by their donations, volunteers services and sponsoring of
entertainment, holiday parties, and the ever-popular bingo games.

The Doug Jacobson Residents Fund truly appreciates the support of our local veterans organizations, the
business community, and the citizens of Charlotte County. One business in particular,
Charlotte Harbor
BINGO & ARCADE
, has been especially generous with their monthly donations to our veterans home.
Located at 4200 Tamiami Trail  #A in Port Charlotte, the bingo hall has the latest in high-tech bingo &
arcade equipment. With large jackpots 7 days a week, view their website at www.charlotteharborbingo.com
to see their specials, calendar and hours of operation.
